I didn't mean to change it, but to use the same coding system for it than
the one used for files etc...

It has to match: the event is decoded with keyboard-coding-system whereas
the define-key statement is decoded via the .emacs file's coding system.

IIRC in some circumstances Emacs uses it to decode keyboard input (IIRC
this is not the case any more in Emacs-22, but I wouldn't bet on it).
