    Then perhaps now we should install the patch that adds three links to the
    splash screen, revert auto-saving *scratch* buffer, and continue this
    discussion about new customization options and more links on the splash
    screen.

We are not yet ready.  I asked a few questions yesterday about details
of this feature.

When this is ready, we should install it as an option, so we can try it
out.
