    The startup screen already contains information from two screens
    combined into one screen.  We could do the same for the About screen.
    Is the only reason for flashing screens to make them more attractive?

The main motive was to display a quantity of information that was
hard to fit in one screen without its being "too much to absorb".

It can also be too much to display on a terminal.

For instance, after the recent changes, the default normal tty startup
text doesn't fit in a 24-line screen.  That is a real problem.

How shall we make it fit on a 24-line screen?
