Of course, it does.  Much of the history has been rewritten.

All the work is done on the client, the server just provides the packs
and tags for download (as you can easily see: after the packs are
downloaded no further communication is done).  Note that the tree was
freshly gc'd as of yesterday.  This really does not have anything to do
with the transport.

The tree is meant to be temporary, only for testing.
