On the trunk, if I do vc-diff on an up-to-date file, myfile.c say, I get:
Finding changes in myfile.c...done
Emacs then looks to the repository and reports:
No changes between working revision and workfile
It shouldn't need to do this and, indeed, EMACS_22_BASE doesn't. It just
reports:
No changes to myfile.c since latest version
