FWIW, XEmacs users complain a lot about startup messages on stderr in
the rare cases they appear.  Of course those are usually things like
"loading some-standard-library ..." messages which leak out due to
some snafu, and that is different from "Wow, what a big .emacs you
have!  It'll take be a second to process this..."  Still, it may be
indicative of one segment of opinion.
