    Windows hardly matters anymore.

    Windows is not growing much in functionality...

Windows is important as a problem as long as it is non-free and
considerable numbers of people keep using it.  It is clear that when
you say it "hardly matters" you are thinking of some other criterion.

    The more urgent issue concerns the emerging W3C-based world:
    what will GNU have to offer there?

If you are talking about the practice of installing non-free software
into a browser, the only thing that is good to offer is the reminder
that you must refuse to do that.
