The simplest workaround would be something like (push '("\\`gdb\\'"
. (utf-8-dos . utf-8-unix)) process-coding-system-alist). But
detecting Apple versions of GDB would be better. Could you check the
patch below?

I would be happy to test your patch, but it will be a few days before
I have the opportunity to do so. (I live in an area of Massachusetts
that was affected by flooding, and life is an unusual mix of priorties
right now :(
I'll report back when I can.
