That would be a reasonable stance if tutorials provided an
introduction of every concept. Often they only cover a subset. In
such cases the man pages are the _only_ documentation and thus a
newcomer's primary intro to more exotic features. Recourse to
googling, experimenting, posting to news groups, etc. all suggest that
the reference documentation failed at some level.
