Semantic support seems paramount (semantic-symref depends on it).

However, it seems to be a losing proposition: writing a grammar for Ruby is hard enough (there's no official grammar for the current version of Ruby). IIRC, there was some incomplete version of grammar for it in CEDET upstream, which doesn't work (at all? well? I don't remember exactly), and even if someone were to spend the effort on fixing it:

- It won't be included in Emacs, unless that someone wrote the grammar from scratch. - It won't help with code completion, which is considered the primary goal of Semantic (AFAICT), because the latter lacks facilities to handle type inference, or types in dynamic languages in general.

I don't know anything about it, but if you just need to identify the
root of some vc identified directory tree, then it already does.

Yes, thanks, I don't need to load a 12000-lines project to do that.
