By now I can tell that the mail got nowhere.

I had no reply, but also no error from M-x report-emacs-bug. I didn't
know if reply would just arrive 20 minutes later or never.

I will. I just know now it's pointless to use M-x report-emacs-bug
unless you use Emacs to handle your mail in general.
