I guess the next questions then have to be: 

1. how have you installed org-mode?  

2. How are you loading it?

3. any extra useful information in the *Messages* buffer?

4. have you tried turning on debug modes (e.g. toggle-debug-on-error)
   to see where things are going wrong?
