I too was confused by this and took the quotes around ‘h:mm:ss’ and
‘h:mm’ to mean that they are strings. Changing the working to be:
The value can be set to, respectively, the symbols ‘h:mm:ss’ or ‘h:mm’,
would clarify the situation.
