I think that R should not allow renaming `..', and if it also does not
allow renaming `.', that is ok.  As for C, I expect that won't copy
a directory anyway.

However, the commands S, H, G, M, O, ! ought to work fine on `.' and
`..' without treating those files specially.  All that's needed
is a way for them to tell dired-get-marked-files to treat those two
just like other files.
