Yes, it is a left-over from the old code before my rework.
I recall that I wondered why it checked and accepted floats, but only
used the args as integers after that, but at the time didn't have time
to investigate whether there really was a reason for it (thus the
comment).
I guess I forgot to investigate it, but I believe it is the proper
thing to disallow floats (and simplify the following code accordingly).
