We were not able to reproduce this. However, we have provided yet
another stab at fixing this in CVS and other versions of Emacs. I also
did a "cvs ci -f mh*.el" in order to get some old .elc files recompiled
as well.

Thanks, we fixed that as you suggested.
I hope that the version I just checked in (7.82) takes care of these
problems. Can you please update your Emacs and let me know how it goes?
