Those are in `tex-font-lock-keywords-3'.  Setting the decoration
level to 2 (or lower) in tex-mode should disable it:

(setq font-lock-maximum-decoration '((tex-mode . 2) (t . t)))

In AUCTeX (font-latex.el) there is a variable
`font-latex-fontify-script' for this, but not in Emacs' tex-mode.
