As I recall, the iterator did not consistently describe the position
of the start of the display line, and as a result the value of it.vpos
was wrong, so vertical-motion returned the wrong value. I ran into
this in debugging line-move, which tests the value. I don't recall
any more whether I encountered that problem for upward motion
or for downward motion.
