Display problem

From: Nick Roberts
Subject: Display problem
Date: Fri, 4 Nov 2005 19:13:10 +1300 (NZDT)

Symptoms:

This is quite a basic display bug:

HOW TO REPRODUCE:

In the scratch buffer:

Leave the first line empty.
Put (put-text-property 1 3 'mouse-face 'highlight) on the second line.
Evaluate with ^J.
Move the mouse over the character "(" and highlighting appears at the cursor
and on the entire of the first line.
This is expected behaviour.
Move the mouse away and the highlighting remains on the entire of the first
line.
This is not expected behaviour.
Resize the frame and it disappears.
Move the mouse back over the character "(" and repeat over.

This bug was introduced after Oct 30 10:02 and before Nov 1 16:36
(+1300 GMT) give or take compilation times.

Nick

If you would like to further debug the crash, please read the file
