I can reproduce this problem by evaluating these:
(global-set-key [1048673] 'forward-char)
(define-key key-translation-map [f5] [1048673])
and typing C-h c f5.
I've just installed a fix of push_key_description, and now
the above displays this:
[1048673] (translated from <f5>) runs the command forward-char
