Here are some functions and their Elisp-manual nodes:
current-active-maps - node Functions for Key Lookup
You seem to have an old version of the manual. current-active-maps is
now in the Active Keymaps node, since January.
If this is already fixed, that's the important thing.
But, FYI, my build is from July 19, 2006, and current-active-maps is only in
node Functions for Key Lookup (and in the index).
