Fear not! Your buffer had just been narrowed. At least I think that's
what happened, as it's what happened over here. <sheepish grin> I used
M-x widen to confirm everything was still all right.

I've added a couple of save-restriction and save-excursions, so
planner--dev--1.0--patch-18 should behave as expected. I used the
function and my notes got properly updated.

Sorry for freaking you out. Hope that helps! Please check it out so
that I can merge it in. =)
