I've made changes to Makefile.defs that I don't want to commit to my
archive. (I don't want to force my $PREFIX on everyone who uses my
archive). Remembering to exclude Makefile.defs from every commit (by
explicitly specifying every other changed file) wasn't working too
well, so I tried marking it precious in .arch-inventory.
Now, tla wants .arch-inventory to have an id, but I don't want to
commit .arch-inventory either, for the same reason. Marking
.arch-inventory as precious in .arch-inventory (or even
{arch}/=tagging-method) doesn't seem to help.
How is everyone else dealing with local changes to Makefile.defs?
