If joakim doesn't respond, then allow me to put words in his mouth:
I'd like M-r to ask me for a regexp to search for, and when I hit RET,
it should present the most recent ERC input to the current buffer, and
allow me to submit it by again hitting RET.
In other words, to do just what comint-previous-matching-input does.
