The build instructions for both fluidsynth and qsynth are easy to  
follow.

I am assuming that your friend does not want to to that ?

What architecture is your friend's computer running on ? It would be  
much simpler if you invited your friend to join the list.

(Oh, BTW, Rui has also released a new version of qsynth a couple of  
weeks ago.)
