What interests you about the fontutils in particular?

I wrote the jobs that need to be done on the fontutils home page
(gnu.org/s/fontutils) as best I could.  Do they make sense to you?

In any event, it would probably be best to get some experience writing
code and contributing to projects before taking full responsibility for
one.  If you want to work on fontutils, that's great by me.  You don't
have to be dubbed the new maintainer to do that :).
