Fabian,

Could you please forward the bug ot Ubuntu mantainers as I cannot find out why 
this wouldn't work. I have here libsndfile-1.0.17-81 (Opensuse 10.3 64bit) 
and it works perfectly ?!?

Could you maybe provide me the complete console output from freecycle as well 
as the gdb trace if you can make one?
