I think this is better handled by some rotation logic in the calling
script, especially because the --hex-dump output is not uniform (it has
the stupid info block prefixed).  Like this:

echo -n "Capturing IPMI System Event Log ..."
logrotate --force /etc/logrotate.d/sel
sel >> /var/log/sel 2>&1
sel --dump-hex=/var/log/sel.hex
sel --delete-all
echo "done"

I admit another reason I propose this is because --append would
complicate the implementation.
