Folks,
I've just finished the implementation of pre-hinting (option `-p') in
ttfautohint, which resolves all composite glyphs into simple glyphs.
While this option almost doubles the resulting output, it helps in
hinting fonts which use TrueType bytecode to shift and/or scale
subglyphs even at large PPEM values.
Right now, it dramatically improves the hinting of composite glyphs
too, in particular base latin characters with diacritics, but this is
just a secondary effect which I eventually hope to get without `-p'
also. It needs improvements in FreeType's autohinter, so both
FreeType itself and ttfautohint will benefit.
The new code is in the git repository.

Please test and enjoy!
Werner
