I don't remember exactly. How did you stumble over this now? If you want
to add it back, it should be the path to without the SYSROOT.

That's almost 10 years old ;)

There's no need for manual rpath handling if you use autotools
(autoconf+automake and probably libtools) as your build system. Probably
with cmake, too. From my point of view it's best to use pkg-config and
get rid of the *-config scripts.
