Folks,


this year, we had much more proposal submissions than last year, and
some of them were very good.  However, the GSoC rules enforce us to
select champions, and so we did.

To all other students who were not successful I want to say a big
Thank You!  Thanks for taking time – I hope that you could learn
something while writing the proposal, and maybe next year you will
have more success.

We selected the following three projects.

  Armin Hasitzka (Austria)
    Improve Fuzzing for FreeType

  Parth Wazurkar (India)
    Integrating VFlib's TeX format drivers into FreeType

  Nikhil Ramakrishnan (India)
    Redevelop FreeType's documentation using markdown

Armin, Parth, Nikhil, I ask you to do the following in case you
haven't done it already.

(1) Get an account on Savannah (https://savannah.nongnu.org/), also
    registering an SSH key.  Send me your account names, and I give
    you write access to the FreeType git repositories so that you can
    create branches for your code.  Please commit to `master' only
    after discussing the intended changes in advance.

(2) Subscribe to the `freetype-devel' mailing list.

    All communication between the mentors and you should be primarily
    done using the list so that other interested people can chime in,
    too.
