It originally used  string module to do all string related functionalities which are deprecated in python3. Thus replacing all those invocations with of string module by actual sting will solve this error

Upon following changes it is working fine but giving more error in cross references :/.Looking for the reasons but for rest it will work fine

The code now works with Python 3. This indeed gives a lot of reference errors. Can you describe what changes were made so that I can help you investigate this?
