We talked about getting the latest Iceweasel for Debian. (If you want to
know why it's Iceweasel in Debian and not Firefox then see
http://wiki.debian.org/Iceweasel ). There are later versions available
for testing and sid. With version 5.0 for testing and version 6.0:
http://packages.debian.org/iceweasel
But as you said you can get them backported to stable (among other
suites) via:
http://mozilla.debian.net/
which gives the necessary instructions on how to do it. I haven't tried
it myself but am tempted.
Further to a conversion I had with Mick Fuzz about permissive free
software licences, which I don't think a lot of people understand the
implications of, that is, it can be made into non-free software, see:
