Not quite. My experience is as follows:
1). I can compile GCL on systems with glibc 2.2.2 and 2.2.3.
2). Compilation on glibc 2.2.4 fails.
3). Binaries compiled on glibc 2.2.3 run on glibc 2.2.4 without
any trouble.
