Yes, it looks like my tree was corrupted. Sorry for the bother. I should have checked that before sending my mail. The 2.6.1 branch builds for me now.

When I try, the build stalls, apparently because the gcl-2.6.1/mod
directory does not exist (see log below).  The 2.7.0 branch builds
without a problem.  I can get the 2.6.1 branch to build by copying
over the gcl/mod directory from the 2.7.0 branch but I kind of doubt
that is the best way to solve the problem :)
