I would prefer absolute values, so that maps are comparable.
If fertility in a region of map 1 looks like fertility in a region of
map 2, I would expect
these regions to be equally fertile.
If it is not, I would take this for a bug.

Do your other overlay maps show relative values too?
If yes, why?
