Hi,
you might be interested in the link time optimization work on going in
GCC. http://gcc.gnu.org/wiki/LinkTimeOptimization
Once gm2 can compile the whole project from one invocation of cc1gm2
then binaries should shrink. These changes will occur post 1.0
though. When gm2 meets LTO in the GCC tree then even huge projects
should benefit
