Follow-up Comment #3:

The problem is that this is an 'event' sound, i.e. Sound.loadSound(sound,
false) is called, and event sounds are not completely implemented. In
particular, Sound.onLoad is never called, thus the AS never calls
Sound.start(). When onLoad is (artificially) called, the movie works fine.
