I just checked in the GTK2 and GtkGLExt support for the standalone player. You can use --disable-glext to force using SDL, or if you don't have GTK2 or GtkGlExt, then it'll default to SDL.

The SDL mode works the same as always. The GTK mode has a right-menu button that lets you control the movie while it's playing, which is kindof fun. The existing control keys work as well in either mode.

I tested this on a few BSD variants and some other stuff, and tweaked a few things, so it should be in ok shape, configuration wise. Sorry for adding more dependencies, but I didn't see away around it if I wanted to make it work well.

The plugin when using SDL plays in the browser like you'd want (except it has no event handling), and the GTK version pops up a separate window. (till I figure out why gtk_plug doesn't work)

The plugin itself has a bug someplace where the first movie plays great, and the Firefox hangs... I'd check it in if folks really wanted, but I'd rather fix it tomorrow... It's been a long day of GTK hacking.
