  That is the basic reason for creating the extension mechanism.
Initially it's for custom  ActionScript classes, but eventually I plan

  Actually you can do this in standard Flash. There are Camera and
Microphone classes that can be used for input. Also you can now stream
an mpeg4 video source in Gnash, and it even works with AGG. Currently
these classes are only stubbed out, and don't actually work. But these
classes stream via RTMP to a media server (you could use Cygnal) for upload.

  Or are you talking about something different ?
