[Gnash-dev] Creation of gnash user-data dirs

From: strk
Subject: [Gnash-dev] Creation of gnash user-data dirs
Date: Tue, 29 Apr 2008 20:38:24 +0200

Summary from an IRC talk, for broader review:

Gnash uses some filesystem files for its operations:
        - user config files
        - user SharedObject dir
        - <caches> [not currently]
        - others ?

The idea is to create the directories whenever
a need for writing these file occurs, so when
saving user configuration files from the GTK "preference" menu
or when flushing SharedObjects, or writing caches.

Is this fine for everyone ?

For SharedObject, the current behaviour is to completely skip
flushing if the SOLSafeDir doesn't exist, if the above is
fine for all we'll have to change that to always attempt at
creating it. Whoever wants to disable them (for security) could
still set it to /dev/null so directory creation would fail.
