[Gnewsense-dev] icecat ftbfs with "relocation truncated to fit: R_MIPS_TLS_GD against `gTLSIsMainThread'"

Hi all,
Trying to build icecat 3.6 on metad/mipsel it fails after almost 290
minutes with the following message:

I have seen two dead threads on this subject [1][2], so does anyone
here have a suggestion as to the cause/fix? Is updating binutils the
fix?
