I think I found out why: do-update has the following lineDONT_CHROOT=1 ensure_updated firefox-2.0 firefox-2.0 $RELEASE$i "./remove-package firefox-2.0" ''
which is like the one for Firefox 3, but with s/3/2/g. But the package name for FF 3 is firefox-3.0, whereas the package name for FF 2 is firefox-2. So I think that line should be
DONT_CHROOT=1 ensure_updated firefox-2 firefox-2 $RELEASE$i "./remove-package firefox-2" ''
