As the message says you don't have access to the device.
See http://wiki.gnokii.org/index.php/DKU2#Troubleshooting_libusb for some hints.

Finally, I got it working using Gnokii 0.6.14 version runnind under Fedora 12.  I don't know what happened but I just plug in my Nokia 3110 as usually to my desktop running on Fedora 12 and Gnokii 0.6.14 version using USB cable.  I modified the Gnokiirc like port = /dev/ttyACM0 and connection = serial and model = AT.

I executed "lsusb" and it recognized my nokia then I executed "dmesg | tail" and its working fine still recognized my nokia fone. Then "Gnokii --identify" and its working fine.  I tried sending sms message using "echo "this is a test" | gnokii --sendsms <phone number>.. it produces lots or message and in the end it says "Aborted core dumped"

So my questions are,

1. I have no signal from my Nokia phone but I have the sim card inside.  So can I send message even without signal from my cell?  I thought the signal is not important because i am using USB cable and my laptop detects the nokia.

2. Gnokii can actually recognize the nokia mobile attached to the PC, but is there a way on how gnokii can actually detect the number on the sim or number of my nokia mobile phone?

Please help me again.. Thank you so much in advance.

I am quite happy because I can actually little by little the progress of my experiment which I have been doing for 2 weeks now.

Warm regards,
Monette
