Hm, since _two_ people said this, I have to suspect it probably works.
It would drive people from economics and the finance sector crazy,
though, because lowercase delta means "discount rate" or (in a
slightly corrupt glyph) "partial differential".  

Whether that minority is worth considering is up to Josh, but AFAIK
_uppercase_ delta is universally used for differencing in mathematics.
