Not that this will help you, but for the archive...

If you're compiling diffutils from source, and using --program-prefix or
somesuch, be sure to edit config.h after running ./configure and set the
DEFAULT_DIFF_PROGRAM to whatever it was that you chose. Otherwise diff3
will try to call "diff", which is likely your lame system diff.
