patch-2 takes care of that by linearly growing the pipe-line over time
(up to the desired size), rather then firing off all 16 requests right
at the start.
Also, regarding more practical numbers; checking out the latest of the
2004 hackerlab:
tla get address@hidden/hackerlab--devo--1.0 # w/o pipe-lining
9.11s user 3.47s system 12% cpu 1:44.40 total
tla/tla get address@hidden/hackerlab--devo--1.0 # w pipe-lining
9.28s user 3.36s system 14% cpu 1:29.90 total
(of course the difference is all in getting the base-0 revcache)
