More or less.

What might happen is that there is a clearer identification of a subset
of Scheme programs that compiles, across most or all compilers, into 
more or less the same code.

But why wait for the compilers to reach that stage and for such a
subset to be identified when it's practical today to just expose the
VM directly and let people write exactly what they mean for it.
