Call things by their real names please; the word is
"specification". There are two definitions of "standard":
(a) Something which everybody currently does
(b) Political-economic arm-twisting by self-appointed committees
Neither of which are particularly useful things, despite the best
efforts of a number of publicity campaigns to persuade people
otherwise.
"Standard" is the antonym of "innovative".
