Hi.

I've attached a patch that changes the make system to handle
configuration a little differently. In short, it allows one to specify
the location of the java compiler to use via the `JAVAC' environment
variable instead of with `--with-whatever'.

This also (almost) allows the library to be built outside the main
source directory -- with the exception of the info files, since makeinfo
will only look in the working directory for image files.
